Really Great 4.5
It’s 1985, Richard Nixon is serving a fifth term(God help us all), America is drawing closer and closer to Nuclear Armageddon, superheroes are outlawed by the Government. When one of the masks is murdered, one of his former teammates uncovers a conspiracy to not only kill off all former superheroes, but to destroy the world. After witnessing the trailer for this film, I had only one word: WOW. The visuals, the cinematography, the Smashing Pumpkins music, the famous line(“The world will look up and shout ‘save us’ and I’ll whisper….know.”). I was very, very excited to see this movie. I was pissing my pants in anticipation. One week before opening day, I decided to read the graphic novel. I finally saw the film, and it blew me the f*** away. I was running out of the theatre screaming “THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!” I was kinda overreacting. While this movie has many qualities to it that are very true to it’s source material, yet there are still some things in there that make you go "Why’d they make that up.‘’ Overrall, I really love this film. It is, in my opinon, a great adaptation of a great graphic novel. It’s a must see for all to see.

Very Good 3.5
One of the things I loved about this movie was the casting. Mainly because most of these actors aren’t very well known. Jackie Earle Haley was beyond amazing as Rorschach. He has a screen presence like no one else in the film. When you see him on screen, you can never take your eyes off him. Jeffrey Dean Morgan WAS the Comedian. He had the smile, the rough attitude, he embodied everything that made the character great. Patrick Wilson was an OK Nite Owl. He wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t as good as some of the other actors. Billy Crudup was a very good Dr. Manhattan. My one complaint with him draws near nitpicking, but I didn’t like his voice. When I think Dr. Manhattan, I think someone with a very deep, echoey voice. Sadly, I don’t anything good to say ‘bout Malin Akkerman as Silk Spectre or Matthew Goode as Ozymandias. They weren’t god awful, but they were just way too bland. I cared more for Carla Gugino as Silk Spectre’s mother, Sally Jupiter.

Perfect 5.0
STUNNING. Thats all I can say. The cinematography is beyond incredible. The visuals look amazing. And I know there are people who have qualms with the slow mo. But I loved it, since it captured how beautiful the movie looks. Some of the dialogue was a little unneccasary. But I could care less. Many of the fight scenes are pretty well done, and some look a little too cheasy.

Regarding Wick’s Review Wish I could separate my head from the comic on this one and be a bit more objective. |
