SnowMan's Review

Created Apr 18, 2010 03:24AM PST • Edited Apr 18, 2010 03:25AM PST

  1. Quality
  2. Great 4.0

Very, very entertaining. Lot’s of gore – a bit painful to watch at times.

  3. Very Good 3.5

Nick Cage was just great as the Batman wannabe. All the other characters were spot-on.

  4. Male Stars Very Good 3.5
  5. Female Stars Very Good 3.5
  6. Female Costars Very Good 3.5
  7. Male Costars Very Good 3.5
  8. Really Great 4.5

The costume worn by Kick-Ass was appropriately hokey, while that worn by Big Daddy was great. I especially liked the RedMist Mobile, or whatever it was called. It was quite a product placment for Ford.

  9. Direction Really Great 4.5
  10. Play Really Great 4.5
  11. Music Really Great 4.5
  12. Visuals Really Great 4.5
  13. Content
  14. Horrid 3.9
  15. Sex Titillating 2.0

Could have used a bit more T&A, especially considering the hotness of Kick-Ass’es love interest.

  16. Violence Monstrous 4.8
  17. Rudeness Vile 4.9
  18. Surreal 2.6

Some of the fight scenes clearly borrowed from the “Matrix” school of hypercapable street fighters. When Hit-Girl runs up the walls and somersaults over, that takes the cake. Also, it is hard to believe any 11 year-old kid could fight with that kind of effectiveness against grown men with guns.

  19. Circumstantial Glib 1.5

The circumstances were amazingly possible, except perhaps for the hot girl falling for the fat kid and the fact that Kick-Ass’s dad never caught on to his son’s alter ego. No radioactive spiders, or anything like that.

  20. Biological Supernatural 3.1

Hard to believe Kick-Ass didn’t get killed more than once in his various beatings.

  21. Physical Supernatural 3.1

The assault vehicle used by Kick-Ass at the end was a little tough to buy (literally) and the fight scenes were all over the top, but other than that it was fairly believable.

I don’t know. It would have a LOT of expectations to fulfill. And considering most super sequels are better than their super predecessors and Mark Millar is writing a sequel to the comic, a sequel seems likely. I guess we’ll have to see how strong of a life it has on DVD.

Regarding MetalJunky5000’s Review
Welcome aboard Junky. Do you think the sequel can be anywhere near as good?

Haha, well, I guess I should take it into consideration then….
