  2. Perfect 5.0

The best underdog story in cinema history and one of the best movies ever made. Written by and starring unknown actor (at the time) Sylvester Stallone, Rocky quickly captivated audiences all over the nation and eventually, the entire world. Everyone knows Rocky. Almost every movie parodies a Rocky scene or uses the theme song in an attempt to recreate a scene. If you haven’t seen any of the movies (WTF?!) I’m sure you’ve at least heard the theme music and already heard of the character. For those who haven’t seen the movie, here’s the low down.

Rocky Balboa is the muscle for a local loan shark and he moonlights as a struggling boxer who never gets a chance to prove his worth. All that changes one day when World Champion Apollo Creed gives Rocky a shot at his title. The reason being, Apollo’s scheduled opponent is injured and can’t compete so Apollo picks Rocky thinking he can give one of the little people a shot at gold and Apollo believes that Rocky will be an easy victory. Rocky, trying to seize the opportunity, enlists the help of local boxing trainer Mickey and finds a love with his best friend’s shy (not retarded) sister, Adrian. Rocky goes through brutal and extensive training so that he can finally prove himself not to Mickey nor Adrian, but the entire world.

Finally when Rocky and Apollo meet, it’s a Clash of the Titans in the squared circle as two men who won’t give up, give it their all…….but only one man can win.

  3. Perfect 5.0

Superb. Emotions run very high in this movie. Even you don’t watch boxing or you hate boxing, you can still appreciate the story that is being told here because of the acting. Stallone gives his very best performance here and in the rest of the Rocky franchise. Stallone IS Rocky Balboa.

  8. Perfect 5.0

Excellent. Showing Rocky running down the ghetto-like streets of Philadelphia and knowing everyone he meets really gives the movie that realistic feel to it and when you get to the big fight, you feel like Rocky is a good friend of yours and you want to see him win. The music is, just like the acting, very emotional. It’s all the same score but it’s sped up when Rocky trains and when he’s with Adrian, it’s a slow piano ballad. Great work all around!

Minor cuss words and some boxing violence but Rocky is still a movie for all ages. I watched it when I was five and all I cared about was the fighting but as I got older, I really appreciated the love aspect and the underdog angle. That was when I realized what a fantastic film this is and it didn’t need explosions or 200 gallons of blood to be great.

  17. Rudeness Polite 1.0
  18. Natural 1.0

I swear if they would’ve put “Based on a true story” at the beginning of the movie, I’d have believed it. The characters are real, the actions are real, the story is unlikely but IS possible.
