OK 2.5
I expected more from this George Clooney spy thriller set in a gorgeous Italian town. George plays an assassin “Jack” who is sequestered to a sleepy town for safe keeping only to be dragged in to another job. Of course, just like he isn’t supposed to, he befriends the locals – most notably the very pretty Violante Placido as “Clara”. The movie moves slowly in to its inevitable twist providing the thrill – but the journey there is a bit quiet, subdued, and at times morose.

Good 3.0
George Clooney is playing his part accurately – I blame the overly-quiet, overly-slow job on the writing and production. Not much else in the way of impressive acting. Not to say the cast wasn’t good, just not memorable. Violante Placido was little more than eye-candy and Thekla Reuten pretty much the same, albeit with a harder edge. Paolo Bonacelli played a likable priest, but really not much of him at all was present in the film.

OK 2.5
Way too slow! This was actually a great story with lots of potential. Unfortunately, the story didn’t connect that well. The inexplicable reasons why Jack ended up where he was, and why things turned they way they did. A very poor copy of Bourne. The only thing that saved the film were brief interludes of action, and an idyllic Italian setting.
