From the obscenely drunk scenes at the beginning, to the sweaty close-quarters existance on the submarine, you really do believe this film. Intense, realistic, and genuine performances grip you and keep you riveted as you follow the crew of a tyipical German WW2 U-boat crew. Favorite quote from the captain: "Now it gets psychological folks"…. Great stuff, and shouldn't be missed.

2nd Cloverfield
2008 Really Great 125 Points

This instantly became my favorite sci-fi thiller of all time. Bravo! Taken from the perspective of one of the kids filming things as NYC is being torn down and terrorized by an unkonwn beast, this film really puts you there and makes it feel real…. you are not at a surreal distance like so many films of this genre.

Amazingly, the way this film starts out with the kid filming events at a party — you get in to the film even without the main plot-line taking hold. They probably just could have continued with the 20-something drama and subtle-yet-still juvenile humor and I would have e…

3rd Lars and the Rea...
2007 Perfect 112 Points

It took me a while before I could convince myself that this would be a movie worth watching, and I'm so glad I did. Never before has a movie made me feel like laughing and crying at the same time – but this movie effectively pulled off being serious and belly-laughing funny. Not easy, and despite having the potential to be unbelievable, I'm left with a greater appreciation of the human spirit of kindness and caring. What a great movie…. see it! Promise me! :)

4th The Fighter
2010 Really Great 88 Points

Wow – I was really impressed with The Fighter. This is a comeback movie on steroids with all the ingredients that a good drama should have. White trash life in the North East has never been better filmed. Struggles among family, struggles with drugs, balancing loyalties with doing what is right . This movie was very stirring. Watching the comebacks and triumphs of the Ward brothers was inspiring and made for a heck of a good story! The acting was top notch across the board and the filming highlighted the best, worst, and funniest aspects of the characters.

5th Flags Of Our Fat...
2006 Really Great 83 Points

This movie was added to my list of all-time great war epics. A movie that can really put you there, feeling the emotions that are going through all those boys, understanding what it really means to put your life in harms way. A must see.
