  1. Quality
  2. Great 4.0

This irreverent comedy comes in the form of a talking Teddy bear with Seth McFarlane’s famous voice. Mark Wahlberg does a good job as a stuck-in-adolescence dude, who’s friend Ted keeps him there. Lots of juvenile LOL moments – c’mon, you know you love it – keep you entertained through what essentially is a love story with Mila Kunis, just forget any pretense of sophistication. You’ll also need to check your political correctness at the door. I don’t think he left any ethnic group or sexual-orientation group untouched. Loosen up, enjoy the fart jokes, bong-hits and beer, ethnic slurs, and shots with Flash Gordon.

  3. Very Good 3.5

Seth McFarlane is one of the comic greats of our time. You will instantly recognize his voice from Family Guy and American Dad, and he carries that brand of comedy with him.

Mark Wahlberg doesn’t really stand out in this film, but his good looks and innocent charm seems a good fit with Kunis – whom we know and love from That 70’s show and many other notable roles, including a voice on McFarlane’s Family Guy.

I also like Giovanni Ribisi as the crazed and 80’s music loving Donny

Patrick Stewart’s unmistakable voice also stars in some dry narration.

Matt Walsh’s role as the clueless office manager provided plenty of chuckles.

Patrick Walburton from Family Guy and Archer is another recognizable funny guy.

Sam Jones – a party natural as the ex Flash Gordon star.

  4. Male Stars Very Good 3.5
  5. Female Stars Very Good 3.5
  6. Female Costars Very Good 3.5
  7. Male Costars Very Good 3.5
  8. Great 4.0

Ted isn’t exactly original. For those of you who watched Wilfred on A&E will get the rip-off right away. Of course there was Jimmy Stewart’s Harvey even before that. But the similarity with Wilfred is more marked. Would I pit Elija Wood and Jason Gann of Wilfred against Wahlberg and McFarlane again? Well, maybe not – McFarlane’s brand mows over the genuine quality of Wilfred. I have a feeling we’ll see more from him.

  9. Direction Great 4.0
  10. Play Great 4.0
  11. Music Great 4.0
  12. Visuals Great 4.0
  13. Content
  14. Risqué 2.5
  15. Sex Titillating 2.5
  16. Violence Fierce 2.5
  17. Rudeness Salty 2.5
  18. Supernatural 3.1
  19. Circumstantial Supernatural 3.1
  20. Biological Supernatural 3.1

Regarding BrianSez’s Review
You’re more up on the various comedy shows than me, Bri. I knew MacFarlane was the Family Guy guy and that Kunis’s voice is on it also, though I gotta admit to not having watched the show. Didn’t know Warburton was on it also. So basically MacFarlane got the band together here for his first movie. Good move.
