Does anyone discuss romances? Why is there never any on the top piks? |

Good question, Ladystorm. The problem is that many Romances are classified as Comedies or Comedy dramas. For instance, I recently raved about “Before Sunrise,” calling it “A perfect romance for the highly verbal.” As it turns out, it isn’t classified as a Romance, but as a Comedy Drama. And you just reviewed “Murphy’s Romance,” which – despite it’s title – is classified a Comedy. We get our movie listings from an outside service, and they control the genre classifications. That said, we’re looking into allowing movies to be tagged with multiple genres or some other solution. |

I totally understand, most of the time I define a lot of chick flick movies as being comedy romances and I think writers and directors try and put that element of comedy in the romance movies to make them a bit more likeable to a broader viewing audience. I know a lot of guys who can handle what they call chick movies as long as they are a bit funny as well..lol. I know on IMBD they usually have a lot of movies listed with several different genres, nothing is just one genre these days. This site is cool by the way, its great for a total movie buff like myself. |
