So I went to see “The Kite Runner” tonight at Camera 7, where notwithstanding the name, they have eight movies showing. Standing in line to fork over my tenner for a ticket, I glanced up at the list, and was struck that I can’t remember the last time every single movie at the plex was worth seeing, but these eight were/are.

  • Atonement: I originally wrote this off as a chick flick, and a British one at that, but its getting such rave reviews (not withstanding that Massie gave it only an OK ‘cause he so hated the last eight minutes) that I wouldn’t feel bad about seeing it, though I imagine it will have to be via Netflix, not a precious night out at the theater.
  • Charlie Wilson’s War: Itching to see this. Has the look of an instant classic, and very topical too.
  • Enchanted: Hurwizzle calls it a great date movie, always a handy call.
  • I Am Legend: I’m as big a Will Smith fan as the next guy, but seeing this movie didn’t strike me as worthwhile till I started seeing some great reviews. I’m still waiting to see the first WikPik review of IAL. Who’s gonna create it?
  • Juno: From the moment I first saw the trailer a couple of months ago, I knew this was a fresh classic. I’m dying to see it.
  • The Kite Runner: Just posted my review – Perfect movie.
  • No Country For Old Men: I gave it SAFER ratings of Great, Great, Great, Mild and Glib.
  • Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street: I’m not much of a Tim Burton fan, and only a bit more of Johnny Depp fan, but you gotta admit, that’s a lotta genius when those two get together.

So one cheer for Silicon Valley’s own Camera Cinemas, and three cheers for Hollywood for putting out a straight eight set of good movies.

I would like to write a review on I Am Legend and The Last Man On Earth but couldn’t find neither in the database. Where do I find them?

Here you go. For best results, don’t click on these links directly, as it will try to open up the movie in the Forum’s iFrame. Rather copy them into your browser’s address box.

Excellent review of IAL, Atiras. I haven’t seen it, but it seems like you gave it just the right Summary rating.

Thank you. The Last Man on Earth is the first adaptation of the I Am Legend book. I thought it was good too. You can actually see that one online because it is in public domain now.
