1. Trust Readily: Look for reviewers to add to your Trusted Reviewer list, even if their judgments aren’t always identical to yours. WikPik is based on Collective Intelligence, so you (and the rest of the community) will get better recommendations when trust is widely – though not blindly – given. How to find trustworthy reviewers? Watch FreshPiks for new voices. Check out ReviewPiks for notable opinions. Consider trusting those who trust you. Click on the Reviewers leaderboard.

2. Promote Yourself: Your ‘Trust Score’ measures how influential you are in WikPik. For instance, movies are included in TopPiks based on Trust Weighted Scores. One easy way to grow your Trust Score is to invite friends who share your taste to join WikPik and add you to their Trusted Reviewer list. Another way is to trust other reviewers, who may then trust you in return.

3. Explain Yourself: Every new review gets highlighted in FreshPiks on the front page. This is a great opportunity to show off your work to members who are unfamiliar with it. FreshPiks shows most of your opinion settings along with the first 20 words of your Summary commentary. So, of course, you should write at least 20 words of Summary commentary. Otherwise it will show as blank. If you write at least 50 words, the review counts towards a T-Shirt.

4. Weigh In: The WikPik recommendation system works best when several reviewers judge a movie, especially when those reviewers have trust scores greater than zero. So when you see a review of a movie that you’ve seen, weigh in with your own review. You don’t even have to write a word, so it just takes a minute. Of course, the more reviews you create, especially where you write 50 words or more to explain your judgments, the more likely other members will add you to their Trusted Reviewer lists and the more your influence will grow.

If I only rate a movie, can I then go back and write a review on that same movie at a later time? Right now I’m trying to select all of my favorite movies, rate them and then go back and write a review on each one of them.

Excellent question, Atiras. Yes, feel free to rate a movie, leaving the commentary boxes empty. Next time you visit that movie, you’ll see that the “Create a Review” button now reads “Edit Your Review.” You can then edit your review time and again, writing and rewriting and/or changing your ratings.
