I’m very old school when it comes to my taste in film. My favorite genre is horror but I’m a fan of any decent film from any genre. I’m not a fan of trendy mainstream films due to their lack of passion and effort. On the other hand I’m not a lover of artsy foreign films that I have to read subtitles in order to understand what in the hell is happening. Give me an original idea, likable characters, gruesome death scenes, bare boobies and a 12-pack and we got us a real movie night.

I can’t keep up with all of the TV shows out there nowadays. Some of my favorites through the years have been Knight Rider, CHiPs, Tales From the Crypt, Beavis and Butthead, South Park, The Shield, Supernatural, and Sons of Anarchy.

With the aid of the internet, everyone has become a critic. Whether it’s writing or producing a video review to leaving snarky comments on somebody’s blog. The net has allowed the world to hear and read our opinions so let’s have at it!
Now are there reviews that are merely headlines with no explanation of why or why nots? TONS! If I do not enjoy a film, I fully explain why. May take forever and a day to read, but my opinions are there and backed up with reason. To people that simply say “WORST MOVIE EVER!” or “BEST MOVIE EVER!” please choke. No really, I’ll wait……still waiting.

That's right, no Nicolas Cage or Angelina Jolie. This film was my inspiration to becoming a filmmaker. H.B. "Toby" Halicki owned a junkyard and decided he wanted to make the greatest car chase film ever made. He used his own money and wrote, produced, directed, distributed and starred in the cult classic Gone In 60 Seconds. Halicki even did a lot of stunt driving in the film that boasts a 45 minute chase scene in which dozens of vehicles are destroyed as a result of the police trying to stop Halicki in his 1973 Yellow Mach I Mustang "Eleanor". Yes I am aware that I've listed Part 7 and not the first movie. This was one of the first horror films I viewed. As a 4 year old that was watching Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Tales From the Crypt, it was inevitable that I would stumble across the slasher film genre. Luckily, Kane Hodder's portrayal of hockey masked Jason Voorhees welcomed me in with open zombie arms. This film was brutal and held no punches with its story and violence. When I later found out that the script went through several alterations and the R-rated released film was nothing like … Yes I am aware that I’ve listed Part 7 and not the first movie. To hell with Gone With the Wind and Casablanca. I'm going out on a limb and saying that this is the greatest average joe's love story in existence. The feeble minded Rocky falling in love with shy and quiet Adrian makes for a timeless romance that manages to grab its audience while revolving around a brutal boxing match pitting the most unlikely underdog against the undisputed champion of the world. The sequels are okay but this here is gold! |
