Good 3.0This true story plays out like a lesser “Hoosiers”, albeit set in “Field of Dreams” Iowa baseball territory. Strong performances by Sean Astin, Rachel Leigh Cook, and especially Powers Boothe elevate the movie above Movie-of-the-Week fare.

Very Good 3.5Powers Boothe is always worth watching. Sean Astin, the prototypical nice guy, is easy to root for. Even Tom Arnold gets a nice turn here.

Larry Miller adds a refreshing touch of vinegar as a cynical newspaper reporter.
