  1. Quality
  2. Perfect 5.0

[Yep, here’s another perfect one. Please read the whole review to know I put thought into this.]
When someone asks me what my favorite movie is, I say Requiem for a Dream. Personally, it is one of the best (but underrated) movies of the 2000-2009 decade. It is also one of the most emotional. This is in a nutshell, a movie about 4 drug addicts. (one addicted to diet pills) You could say this is just another movie about drug addiction, but you’re wrong. It’s about addiction in general. This movie is not at all for everybody, as it can and will have you thinking about it for a long time.

  3. Really Great 4.5

The acting, most noteably by Ellen Burstyn, is incredible. Each of the 4 characters give a mindblowingly fantastic performance.

  4. Male Stars Great 4.0

Jared Leto was amazing all the way through

  5. Female Stars Perfect 5.0

Ellen Burstyn has one of the best performances I’ve seen in any movie. She really can be an emotional actor. She was nominated for an Oscar, and should’ve won it.

  6. Female Costars Really Great 4.5

Jennifer Connely is great, as she always is

  7. Male Costars Very Good 3.5

People may think this is a comedy becuase of Marlon Wayans. It’s not. I think it was great seeing his serious side. He wasn’t as good as the other actors, but he was still a good choice for the film.

  8. Perfect 5.0

    The film was fantastic.

  9. Direction Perfect 5.0

Darren Aronofsky, director of Pi, never fails. In fact after just watching Requiem for a Dream and Pi, he is my all time favorite director. He did such a wonderful job with Requiem for a Dream.

  10. Play Really Great 4.5

Very good. The dialougue helps make the movie more depressing, because of how their voices change throughout.

  11. Music Perfect 5.0

Clint Mansell is a master composer. His soundtrack for Requiem for a Dream has been heard by everyone, wheather they know it or not.

  12. Visuals Perfect 5.0

It was amazing how they didn’t show drugs actually being taken. Instead, there were flashes of drugs which were quite fascinating.

  13. Content
  14. Horrid 4.0

Quite an explicit movie. Also, with the dark tone, this movie is not at all for kids.

  15. Sex Explicit 5.0

Extremely explicit sex scene towards the end.

  16. Violence Brutal 3.0

A couple violent thoughts are shown, but never done.

  17. Rudeness Nasty 4.0

    Drug dealers are never nice.

  18. Natural 1.0

VERY realistic movie. Anyone who has or knows someone that has encountered drugs will agree.

  19. Circumstantial Natural 1.0
  20. Biological Natural 1.0
  21. Physical Natural 1.0
