  1. Quality
  2. Great 4.0

Finally! A Predator film that lives up to the original! Forget those crappy AVP movies, this is the real deal! Non-stop action, tons of thrills, gobs o’ gore, and chilling atmosphere makes this one of the better films out there in a summer of real dudds. Producer/Writer Robert Rodriguez and Director Nimrod(yes, that’s his real name) Antal bring the franchise back from the desolate and smelly garbage dump it was sitting in and offer up a sequel that will surely satisfy fans of the franchise and hardcore action movie fans.

The film revolves around a team of total strangers. They fall out of the sky and land on an unknown planet. But they’re not alone. They’re being hunted by an alien race known as predators. The planet’s a game preserve, and they’re the game.

Though the some of the plot is cliche and you can find a very small amount of “that’s what she said” moments in the dialogue, who cares! The star of the movie are the Predators. My advice: When you’re leaving your car, leave your brain inside. This is a summer action flick you can’t miss out on.

  3. Great 4.0

The casting for the film was great! Each of these actors bring in something different.

When I saw Adrien Brody in the film, I thought “That big nosed whimp from The Pianist? C’mon! Where’s Arnie when you need him!” But he proved me wrong. Brody was easily the best actor in the film. He brought the tough guy attitude that was needed to lead such an ensemble cast, including Danny Trejo, Alice Brega, Topher Grace, etc.

The only actor I didn’t like was Laurence Fishburne. He was way too over the top and just annoyed the hell out of me. I was glad to see him blown to bits by one of those Predators.

  4. Male Stars Great 4.0
  5. Female Stars Great 4.0
  6. Female Costars Great 4.0
  7. Male Costars Great 4.0
  8. Good 3.0

    Oh, Nimrod, you dog!

  9. Direction Very Good 3.5

Though I will admit the movie moved along at a pretty steady pace, there were a couple of scenes that dragged. When the actors were just sitting around jibber jabbering, it wasn’t very interesting to watch.

However, the guy knows how to bring out the action and turn up some thrills! The action in this movie is hard hitting and balls to the wall! The movie also made me jump out of my seat at some points.

So, all in all, Nimrod, I (for the most part) salute you, sir!

  10. Play Good 3.0

Like I said, some of the dialogue was a bit iffy and some of it was just plain boring. All of it has been said before and some lines were kinda laughable. But it wasn’t all bad. There were some funny gags in there and some lines were well executed.

  11. Music Good 3.0

The musical score was fine, but some times it felt out of place and just sounded really wierd. Still, it was a well done score.

  12. Visuals Good 3.0

The costumes on the predators were awesome!! They looked so real. If they make another live action TMNT movie, they should find the guys who made this costumes! They’re f*ckin geniuses!

However, the same can’t be said for the CGI. A lot of the CGI looked really fake and almost on par with something you’d see on the Sy Fy channel.

As for the rest of the cinematography and the effects used on the spacecrafts, I can’t complain. It looked pretty neat.

  13. Content
  14. Sordid 3.3

Definitely for the gorehound fans of the first film, but take the kids to Despicable Me instead.

  15. Sex Titillating 1.6
  16. Violence Savage 4.2
  17. Rudeness Nasty 4.1
  18. Fantasy 5.0
  19. Circumstantial Fantasy 5.0
  20. Biological Fantasy 5.0
  21. Physical Fantasy 5.0

Regarding MetalJunky5000’s Review
Sounds like a blast. Of course, most movies Robert Rodriguez makes are, from El Mariachi on.

I know what you mean about Adrien Brody. You never know if he’s going to work in a role till you see him in it.
