  1. Quality
  2. Very Good 3.5

As with ‘Inception’, ‘Source Code’ refreshingly uses a unique plot and is a great blend of sci-fi and thriller. Apparently we have figured out a unique way to solve crimes by going back to the last 8 minutes of victims’ lives in search of clues about their deaths so we can prevent further mayhem. This is great stuff, and although my synopsis may seem like it contains too many spoilers, rest-assured that there are sufficient twists to both keep you on edge and to keep you guessing. This movie is great entertainment and should be on your ViewList.

  3. Good 3.0

Jake Gyllenhaal does drama well, and that’s the centerpiece of this film. Others, like Michelle Monaghan also do a great job but don’t ever get elevated enough to take the focus of the camera.

  4. Male Stars Good 3.0
  5. Female Stars Good 3.0
  6. Female Costars Good 3.0
  7. Male Costars Good 3.0
  8. Very Good 3.5

The biggest complaint is the jumbled and overly-contrived ending. I think they could have ended the movie earlier than they did and left us all with an extremely impactful ending. That said, the wishes of Colter Stevens were fulfilled, and the last twist is revealed. I’m sure I’ll get a debate on whether or not the last twist was necessary. Other than that, a well done blend of sci-fi and thriller which will be remembered for a long time.

  9. Direction Very Good 3.5
  10. Play Very Good 3.5
  11. Music Very Good 3.5
  12. Visuals Very Good 3.5
  13. Content
  14. Risqué 1.6
  15. Sex Titillating 1.6
  16. Violence Fierce 1.6
  17. Rudeness Salty 1.6
  18. Supernatural 3.9
  19. Circumstantial Supernatural 3.9
  20. Biological Supernatural 3.9
  21. Physical Supernatural 3.9

Thanks Wick. I drive into the city from Northern Indiana past that spot often. I was kinda bummed the movie got so confusing at the end for me. Maybe it will work better for you, as I too enjoyed Moon.

Regarding BigdaddyDave’s Review
Really helpful review BigD! I was bummed that I hadn’t made it out to see this because I so liked Moon, director Duncan Jones’ previous movie.

Now I’m relieved and will wait to see it on the rebound.

BTW, love the trivia about the Chicago building with the roof blown off.
