  1. Quality
  2. Good 3.0

Ultra-smart, psychic, but troubled opium smoking and laudanum ingesting inspector Aberline (Johnny Depp) leads us through this dark adventure of the hunt for Jack the Ripper. This is Victorian London at its worst, filthy streets, filthy harlots, crazy medical procedures, and even crazier results of Jack the Ripper’s handiwork. In this movie Mr. Depp becomes personally involved with one of the potential victims (Heather Grahm) when things heat up. The sleuthing is fun to watch, the period backdrop is very well done, and the plot starts off as pretty darned interesting. That is, until it got too complicated. In the end, this a very enjoyable movie and a must-see for Depp fans who won’t mind seeing him in a more serious role.

  3. Good 3.0

Johnny Depp almost reminded me of Robert Downey Jr. in this film. Well RD without the sarcasm anyway. Depp did a great job putting on his Elizabethan alter ego.

Heather Grahm has too pretty of a face for her harlot role, but otherwise does a decent job
