  1. Quality
  2. Good 3.0

Was this the film that inspired the TV show ‘Friday Night Lights’? It could have been, except it has more humor and the drama isn’t as heavy.. In the big state of Texas, Football is king, it is the place where a winning team and its coach are revered, and not much else matters – including the health of the players. So what happens when a second stringer quarterback – who previously wasn’t football crazed, is suddenly brought into the limelight? Varsity Blues highlights the worst and best of High School football, and it is a crowd-pleasing drama. If you are a sports movie fan, definitely put it on your list.

  3. Good 3.0

John Voight made a great ruthless Texas coach. He’s got a great ‘nothing else matters but the win’ persona.

James van Der Beek is decent as Max the newly discovered hero
