Very Good 3.5Another must-see for the inspirational sports genre. This time our inspiration is conjured by none other than Samuel L. Jackson, who credibly plays the role of education-minded Coach Carter. Both a great sports story, as well as a pointed message that book-smarts play as important as a role as sports and street-smarts. Sports movies are entertaining and sometimes meaningful; Indeed, Coach Carter is both.

Great 4.0An all-around great cast. Samuel L. Jackon is a natural as the inspirational coach, and the cast playing the team does a really solid job. Some notables: Rob Brown is a natural leader as Kenyon, and young Channing Tatum does a decent hard-boy turned teammate. Also a fine showing from Ashanti, as well as an emotional Rick Gonzales.
