John A Massie's Review

Created Nov 27, 2007 02:38PM PST • Edited Nov 27, 2007 02:38PM PST

  1. Quality
  2. Pretty Bad 1.5

I thought this was average when I saw it the day it came out. Then nearly everyone else loved it so now I’ve gone from ‘meh, its kinda average’ to ‘its a bad film’. The action and SFX are NOT GREAT, stop saying they are, Michael Bay jerks and spazzes the camera around so you can’t see whats going on, which means you can’t see the SFX half the time and the action sucks.

  3. Barely OK 2.0

Shia Lebouf and Megan Fox are pretty good leads and I’m willing to blame a bad script rather than bad acting for the how bad the other actors were especially Bernie Mac and Anthony Anderson. Except for John Turturro who gives a performance that defies good or bad and goes into the realm of WTF.

  4. Male Stars Barely OK 2.0
  5. Female Stars Barely OK 2.0
  6. Female Costars Barely OK 2.0
  7. Male Costars Barely OK 2.0
  8. Pretty Bad 1.5

When you can tell whats going on (ie whenever nothing exciting is happening) the film does look good.

That Linkin Park song at the end was painfull.

  9. Direction Pretty Awful 0.5
  10. Play OK 2.5
  11. Music Barely OK 2.0
  12. Visuals Barely OK 2.0
  13. Content
  14. Risqué 2.0

Has a couple masturbation jokes and seterotyping that should offend most African Americans but no blood or harsh language. Actually there probably was some blood but the camera and editing were too busy making sure I couldn’t see anything for me to notice any blood.

  15. Sex Titillating 2.0
  16. Violence Fierce 2.0
  17. Rudeness Salty 2.0
  18. Fantasy 5.0
  19. Circumstantial Fantasy 5.0
  20. Biological Fantasy 5.0
  21. Physical Fantasy 5.0
