  1. Quality
  2. Perfect 5.0

Though I respect Stanley Kubrick as a director, I understand that his movies….well….aren’t for eveyone. They’re definitely higher in the artistic department than with writing. Some might not like The Shining and some might not like 2001. Well, though I like The Shining and I respect 2001, I can’t help but think they’re both slightly overrated. So, I was somewhat skeptical about A Clockwork Orange. I had high expectations after just about EVERYONE talked about how great it was, and this movie knocked my sox off!! This was an amazing movie, a true work of art, and one of the best mind f*ck movies I’ve ever seen.

A Clockwork Orange is about Alex Delarge, a troubled youth and the leader of a punk gang in the near future. One night on a violent spree, his mates screw him over and leave him for the police to catch him. One Alex enters prison, he takes part in an experiment that is made to make him a formidable member of society. Once he leaves prison, a changed man, the audience watched Alex as he soon degenerates back to his normal ways.

Whether your a Kubrick fan or not, you HAVE to give this movie a chance. This movie is just flippin’ phenomenal.

  3. Perfect 5.0

Everytime I watch this movie, I tend to ask myself the same simple question…HOW DID MALCOLM MCDOWELL NOT GET AN OSCAR FOR THIS?!?! McDowell portrays Alex to the creepiest and most menacing extent. His best scene in this film has to be when he’s torturing a couple as he belts out “Singin’ in the Rain.”

  4. Male Stars Perfect 5.0
  5. Female Stars Perfect 5.0
  6. Female Costars Perfect 5.0
  7. Male Costars Perfect 5.0
  8. Perfect 5.0

Like I said, Kubrick is better in the artistic and technological department than he is with his writing. The cinematography in this movie is amazing. The imagery is mind bottling and utterly mesmerizing.

The musical score each scene is set is mainly from ol’ Ludwig Van. But, the score that is provided for the film is very dreary and dark, which suits the movie perfectly.

  9. Direction Perfect 5.0
  10. Play Perfect 5.0
  11. Music Perfect 5.0
  12. Visuals Perfect 5.0
  13. Content
  14. Horrid 3.7

The sex, language, and violence is what helped this film get its X rating in the first place. So this is NOT for the squeamish.

  15. Sex Lewd 3.7
  16. Violence Savage 3.7
  17. Rudeness Nasty 3.7
  18. Supernatural 4.0
  19. Circumstantial Supernatural 4.0
  20. Biological Supernatural 4.0
  21. Physical Supernatural 4.0

Great appreciation MJ. Clockwork floored me when I first saw it in high school. It was like: So that’s what genius movie making is like.
