  1. Quality
  2. Good 3.0

Ok, so the writers apparently phoned this one in. But should you stay away? No. Not if you are a character study fan, or a fan that might enjoy seeing Wahlberg in his prime. He’s the only thing believable about the tale, and he’s got a great supporting cast that all do really well with their characters despite the mess they’ve been thrown in. If you arent a Wahlberg fan, or you otherwise have little patience with sub-par writing – wait for the probably short-period of time until you can stream it.

  3. Great 4.0

Other than Wahlberg – who I think does a really great job, Jessica Lange continues to show she’s still got major chops. Goodman is great to see – just stay away from the shirtless scenes. Brie Larson is a pretty side-kick, but her presence seems to be a bit of a distraction. Really liked Michael Williams as the bad-ass Neville. All in all a great cast.

Regarding BrianSez’s Review
Yes, came away with three things from this movie. Seeing Wahlberg in his prime is certainly key and I hope he has at least a dozen more of these types of roles in him before he turns to a life of weirdness. Second, the scene with him sitting in the lifeguard chair with the orange umbrella is iconic. And third, the F-you scene with Goodman made my top 10 lifetime scenes. Good does turn out to be great every now and again.
