Forget tim Burton's "Batman", this is the greatest story of Batman told thus far. Batman's legacy had been going downhill ever since, yet Christopher Nolan's newer tale of The Dark Knight brings the franchise full circle to become the best Batman film yet. From Christian Bale's acting (as both Bruce Wayne and as Batman, almost two completely different characters) to the set design, from the casting of Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy, and Gary Oldman to the fantastic direction, Batman Begins is a comic book lovers dream come true. Batman Begins may arguably be the…

After willjros, I thought it'd be nice to post a second review of this underrated classic and introduction to one of the more iconic film characters in american cinema. Who hasn't heard the name Rambo? Based on the novel by David Morrell, this tells the story of one vietnam veteran and green beret John Rambo, who is having trouble creating a segue back into the typical American lifestyle. After a chance encounter with some officers who don't seem to like his kind, Mr. john Rambo escapes and decides to turn a modern police brutality case into the second war of his lifetime. Full of inter…

LExi Alexander's debut film, "Green Street hooligans", is a revelation. Starting off with a bit of grip from the very beginning, it eventually tightens thr grip to a point of suffocation…meaning that it rarely lets up for air. A Gritty film starring Elijah Wood and Charlie Hunnam (a name eventually everyone will come to know), it is a realistic tale of the brutality of the real world, drawing amazing comparisons between the cutthroat world of the powerful with the take no prisoners land of the Football hooliganism.

Before starting the review I have to admit something: I am a fan of Hellboy. Not simply the film, but the comics as well. i had a friend in high school who had a few of them and i rad and enjoyed them. so when it came time for a film, i was excited. That bias being out of the way, I really liked the film. Hellboy does travel some old paths of the comic book kind, but it also makes for a more than enjoyable ride and provides a tremendous introduction to the origins of the character.

Literally from the opening frames, was enamored by how funny i found this film to be. "I love you, man" is easily one of the funniest movies of 2009 so far, and a glaring example of comedy done right. A lot of comedies trying to be funny only pull it off about half of the time may want to give this a look so they can see that a good, strong character driven story can be raucous, outrageous, hilarious, and touching (albeit mildly) all at the same time. Don't let the "r" rating fool you, this film has a lot of heart and has a pretty interesting story behind it as well. And you will laugh…..

This is arguably the funniest movie released in 2007. Starring Seth Rogen, Katherine Heigl, Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, and the combine team effort of Jay Baruchel, Jason Segel, Jonah Hill, and Martin Starr. Written and Directed by Judd Apatow. Knocked Up is a quite vulgar romantic comedy but it is a comedy with a lot of heart, and when you leave this movie you'll find yourself remembering and laughing at all of the one-liners and quotables; you will also leave knowing full well that every actor put a lot of passion into the project. This film is a perfect comedy.

..Midnight Meat Train signals the return of originality to the horror genre. Based upon the short story of the same name from Clive Barker's "Books of Blood", Midnight Meat Train is everything you'd expect from a film with that title…although it also contains one very interesting plotline that is guaranteed to warrant repeat viewings to soak it all in. This is not a film for all tastes, however, as it is incredibly gore-soaked in moments. If you are a horror fan, then you owe it to yourself to at least view Midnight Meat Train one uninterrupted time so as to see what shoulda been the r…

Guillermo Del toro's official masterwork, "The Pan's Labyrinth" is a showcase of imagination that make me feel particularly jealous, thinking that I could never come up with anything close to the majesty of this film. From the opening frame, this film leave you breathless and wanting more, bringing unprecedented beauty and wonder to a fantasy film that hasn't been viewed since The Lord of the Rings concluded all of those years ago. This is filmmaking at its finest and it stands as one of the greatest films of 2006.

Who would have thought that in January of 2008 that a franchise started in 1982 that officially shot itself in the foot by 1988 would not only find a resurgence twenty years later but also put forth what may be its strongest installment? not I, and I am a diehard sylvester Stallone and Rambo fan. the opening scenes put you into a real life situation of the ongoing situation of burma, and while the film does seem to become more and more like a comic book as it progresses, the action rarely lets up and you will find yourself immersed in one of the most violent and brutal displays put to fil…

To summarize this film without comparing it ot the other films in the "Rocky" series is a given, just as such as it is easy to bring Stallone's age in as a factor. Truth be told, This is the second best in the "rocky" series, coming in behind only the original in terms of quality and substance. A well-done and thrilling capper to a 30 year film history.

Role Models

Role Models is not exactly the comedy you're thinking you're going to find at first glance. The cover shows Seann William Scott slugging what may or may not be alcohol (it is covered in a paper sack, after all) while Paul Rudd may or may not be urinating on the wall. The idea is simple…"Who would let these guys be role models?" and it works. Paul rudd plays Danny, a man fed up with his job, his life, and everyone around him. Simple things like the title "venti" for a large coffee upset him for the entire day, and he not so subtly sells energy drinks to high schools with his friend, w…

There are many movies that can be considered "horror/comedy". Most of them focus on the horror foremost and include the comedy as a means of escape from tension. Shaun of the Dead may be the first in "comedy/horror", flipping it on its ear and creating a horror movie with genuine scares and violence, yet wrapped in a soft blanket of some of the most original and creative comedy in years. this film is a parody of horror done in the greatest way possible- by being an homage instead of a spoof. This film does not make fun of horror, it embraces its intricacies with affection.

A perfect horror film and one of the best horror films of the last ten years. The story isn't the most original but it definitely handles the terror with a wicked sensibility that makes it feel completely fresh and new. Neil Marshall does a tremendous job with the direction, making a low budget scary movie feel like cost far more than it did. the actresses took to their respective roles quite well as well. This is a perfect way to spend an evening and a surefire choice if you're in for a good fright film. a guaranteed future horror classic.
