1998 Very Good 94 Points

A brilliant, disturbing, and provocative tale of obsession. Maximillian Cohen is trying to prove that everything in the world can be understood through numbers. But while fighting extreme paranoia, violent seizures, and hallucinations, he slowly descends into madness.

1st Shutter Island
2010 Great 110 Points

Nothing less than a superb. A creative plot will keep you engaged, and a killer climax will knock you to the floor at the end. I didn't see it coming, yo won't see it coming, and when it does you'll shout, "Wow!" That is, if you haven't read the book already.

1st Saving Private Ryan
1998 Really Great 37 Points

A great story of war, masterfully told throughout its entirety. It's a thrill to watch, a thrill to listen to, and most of all, a thrill to live. Once again, a story told wonderfully.

1st The Matrix
1999 Really Great 26 Points

A wickedly smart story that is provocative in a unique way. It's that film where you remain up for night after night wondering…pondering…questioning everything about life. What if? That's the question you'll ask. "Have you ever had a dream you were so sure was real?"

1st Inglorious Basterds
2009 Really Great 131 Points

A very bold depiction of what we wish happened to Hitler. Very bold indeed, but brilliant in its style, and sickening in its brutality. Bravo!

1st The Dark Knight
2008 Perfect 173 Points

Very thought provoking themes make this a powerful film. It's definitely not your typical comic book movie. No "flame-ons!" and no "up, up, and aways!" And that's just what I like.

1st Coraline
2009 Perfect 6 Points

A creative retelling of Niel Gaiman's frightening tale. Henry Selick adds to the story, but doesn't stray far from what the book was trying to get across. A perfect spine-tingling film for children.

I've read many Stephen King novels and am a huge fan. I have not, however, read Misery. The movie makes me want to very much.

1st Get Him to the G...
2010 Perfect 89 Points

"Get Him to the Greek" was hailed as the new "Hangover" by some. Those "some" are onto something. This film takes aim at sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. A hilarious plot involving a British rock star who has reached rock bottom, and a lovable oaf who is introduced to all the things he is against meet, all hell breaks loose and lessons are learned.
